Coaching Interlock Baseball

In our Interlock House League Program our teams participate in an "interlocked" loop that is comprised of same aged house league teams from neighbouring Associations in Niagara. Scoring and Standings come into play, and additional game play rules are introduced. Coaches continue to increase the level of baseball concepts and knowledge taught to the players. 

GAMES:
Teams should have home games that will fall on one of our SCMBA home nights for that particular division (see Program page for details). Away games will be determined by their Associations and as such may potentially vary from year to year, but will likely be set days of the week throughout the season.

PRACTICES:
Teams will also have specific practice days/times, which will be chosen by the coaches from a list of open days/times provided to them by SCMBA. These practice times should remain consistent throughout the season. When fields first open mid-May, SCMBA will initially schedule 2-3 "start-up" practices, which may also make use of what will become "game" days/times. These are just initial practices and will not necessarily reflect your "usual" practice times.

Getting Started

1. Register to Coach! using our Registration Portal.
   • If you are a new family, please create an account, other wise log in.
   • Make sure you add yourself as a family member (so your child doesn't end up coaching ;).
     
     
2. Volunteer Screening:
   • This is MANDATORY for all coaches (as per Baseball Ontario policy).
   • Please follow our Volunteer Screening Instructions
   • ALL Coaches will need to follow Level 3 Screening Requirements.
   • Occasional helpers will need to follow Level 1 Screening Requirements.

1. Annual Review of OBA Harassment Policy.
2. Annual Review of OBA Supervisions (Rule of 2) Policy.
3. Annual Review of the OBA Coaches Code of Conduct Policy.
4. Annual Review of SCMBA Injury Reporting Policy.
   
   
5. MANDATORY (one-time) Coach Training
   - Coach Assoc. of Canada Online Training Modules (create an account/sign into "The Locker")
   1. FREE Understanding the Rule of Two online module - Approx. 20mins.
   2. FREE Safesport Training online module - Approx. 60-90mins.
   3. FREE Making Head Way online module - Approx. 60-90mins.
   4. FREE Emergency Action Plan online module - Approx. 15mins.
      
      
6. Additional ANNUAL Concussion Education/Review
