AGE GROUP: 6 & 7 years old
PARK LOCATION: Pic Leeson Park (ACCESS FROM END OF BLOOMFIELD AVE!) & John Dempsey 2
GAME DAY: Saturday mornings 8:30am, 10am, 11:30am & 1pm at Merritton #4. Games are 1 hour 15 minutes. Game times rotate weekly
PRACTICE: Monday or Wednesday (6-7pm) at Merritton #2 or #4 (Set night weekly). Practices are 1 hour.
2024 REGISTRATION COST: Early Bird - $165, Regular - $190
DESCRIPTION: For Machine Pitch, SCMBA has adopted the Rally Cap fundamentals developed by Baseball Canada. Practices will consist of 1/2 hour batting and 1/2 hour fielding drills. Games will be played like real games with fair play rules developed by SCMBA. A pitching machine is used to develop the batting skills of the players. Proper drills and player development can be found at the link provided below (black and green cap skills for this level). Teams will consist of 8 or 9 players. Players will be developing towards:
Players are developing toward:
Fielding: introduction to positions (minimal)
Fundamental Movement Skills: Agility - able to touch 6 cones placed in a star shape, while always looking forward
Throwing: able to throw 6/10 balls to a partner/target 25 feet away
Receiving: able to field 3/5 ground balls to the right and left. not moving and progressing to moving
Hitting: Able to hit 6/10 underhand balls passed the base paths
Base running: able to run 20 feet followed by a feet first slide on grass (no base)

- Gloves are required.
- Batting helmets (with a face guard) are required.
- Athletic supports are required.
