Rep Program Coach Job Description
Coaches can have a tremendous influence on our players. As a Rep/Select Coach you need to be an effective leader, teacher and organizer who has a genuine concern for the athletes’ total well being. The Coach’s impact on the players’ overall experience and enjoyment of baseball is significant. The following is an outline of expectations, responsibilities or roles of a Rep/Select Coach in the St. Catharines Minor Baseball Association:
Team Operations
- Responsible for all team operations with the assistance of the Team Manager and Assistant Coaches
- Follow and apply all Association Policies or Procedures
- Provide team information and update meetings
- Be a part of the budget process, and responsible for monitoring of the budget along with the Team Manager
- Responsible for Team Fundraising
- Responsible for selection of a team in conjunction with the Director of Rep and in line with the SCMBA Rep/Select selection guidelines/process
- Follow all Baseball Ontario and Niagara District Association rules
- Request and ensure proper use, care and return of all SCMBA equipment
As a COACH
- NCCP and additional Certification as required for the division/level before required deadline (cost covered by SCMBA)
- Attend SCMBA Rep/Select Program meetings
- Establish Team and Individual Seasonal Goals and Objectives including; Indoor Training (Feb-Apr), NDBA Loop, Tournaments and Development Plan throughout
- Plan and run effective practices
- Involve, encourage and develop Assistant Coaches
- Be a positive role model for all players to follow
- Communicate openly and effectively with Players, Coaches and Parents
- Show respect to all players, parents, competitors and officials and encourage all those associated with your team to act in similar fashion
- Select effective Team Manager, and assistant coaches
- Invite parents to get involved if required
Requirements
- Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Check) within 2 weeks of position being accepted
- NCCP Training required for level/division before deadline
- Concussion Protocol Training before deadline
- Satisfactory Baseball knowledge to provide leadership for the Team
